Remote Collaborative Design: the Lisbon Charrette experience

Design is very often a collaborative activity, involving the co-operative work of experts from multiple disciplines. Moreover, design activities do frequently require the gathering of teams that are geographically spread. In the coincidental case of design teams being formed by experts from different disciplines geographically distributed across the globe, it is of utmost interest to conceive and set up the means – concepts, methodologies, tools and, eventually, models (Cross, 1984; Coyne, 1988) – that may enable distributed collaborative design to take place.
